You want to sign up for a service, but the company requires a phone number. What to do? Well, if you're a privacy geek, you might first sign up with a VoIP provider in order to acquire a number that isn't tied to your real phone number, or you might leverage one of the services that offer to generate a temporary number, or you might use a 'burner phone'. None of these solutions are convenient and the former two require signing up and paying for yet another service. Also, VoIP numbers aren't 'real' numbers, thus they may be rejected.

Cape is excited to announce Secondary Numbers, now available as an Experimental Feature within the Cape app.

All Cape customers now have access to two additional real phone numbers included in their plan. Currently, these numbers only support SMS, with voice functionality coming soon.

Cape Secondary Numbers feature middle-to-end encryption. This means that while standard SMS is typically vulnerable as it travels across various networks, Cape secures the communication path from our core infrastructure directly to your device. This ensures your data remains protected from "last-mile" vulnerabilities, like compromised cellular base stations. When using Secondary Numbers, all communications are sent securely as data over HTTPS, which means that Cape's roaming partners cannot access their content.
