CIA drug trafficking - study resources

According to some, the Central Intelligence Agency has been involved in the illegal drug trade since its creation in 1947 and possibly before then when it was the Office of Strategic Services.

Gary Webb was an investigative journalist who, in 1996, famously exposed some of the connections between the CIA and its activities in the drug trade in a series of articles titled Dark Alliance. Gary was working for the San Jose Mercury News at the time and wrote the series the explosion of crack cocaine on the streets in Los Angles which coincided with the Iran-Contra affair. Ronald Reagan wanted to fund the Contra's, however Congress refused and so the CIA funded the program in other ways. Gary was viciously attacked in the media and eventually lost everything as a result of his work, including his marriage. Despite the common belief that Gary was murdered due to the fact that he had two bullet wounds to his head, Michael Ruppert, who also committed suicide for similar reasons, provides convincing evidence to the contrary.

Following is a small sampling of resources for further study.
