Got a mouse you like but it's borked?

A few years ago i bought myself a Corsair mouse and the primary and secondary button switches were Shit, with a capital 'S'. I really liked the look and feel of the mouse however, plus returning stuff is a pain, so i opted to break out the soldering iron and replace the switches, but where does one get info about switches? Are the contacts gold plated? What's the operating force? The click weight? The color??? Are these not are the fundamental questions that keeps one up at night?

Answer: Ents

The dude is passionate enough about mice that he started a small side business repairing and modding them for people and, in the process, apparently learned a lot about micro switches. Check out his spreadsheet. Ents also has a YouTube channel with lots of interesting videos.

I stuck Huano Blue Shell Pink Dot switches in mine which also happen to be one of Ents' favorites. Three years later they're still clickin' and i expect them to last many more years. They are a little lighter than i like, but are infinitely better than the crapola Omron's that the mouse came with.

All that said, any manufacturer worth their salt nowadays is going to be outfitting their mice with optical switches which eliminate the problems inherent with mechanical micro switches.

PS: I will no longer buy anything with Omron switches, which happen to be one of the most popular mechanical switches used for mice. Their "50 million" click switches are complete garbage and therefore so is the company in my opinion. These switches lasted about 2 weeks before they started acting psychotic.
