Iran-Israel-U.S. developments (16-Jul-2025) (updated)

"I have never been so upset by a poll in my life. Only 22% of Americans now believe "the movie and television industries are pretty much run by Jews," down from nearly 50% in 1964. The Anti-Defamation League, which released the poll results last month, sees in these numbers a victory against stereotyping. Actually, it just shows how dumb America has gotten. Jews totally run Hollywood." -- Joel Stein in Who runs Hollywood? C'mon, the Los Angeles Times, Dec. 19, 2008 (source)

UPDATE 1:
ICC refuses to back down: Netanyahu, Gallant arrest warrant stand despite mounting Israeli-US pressure
The International Criminal Court (ICC)'s judges have ruled that the tribunal's arrest warrants for the Israeli regime's prime minister and his former minister for military affairs would stand, defying overwhelming Israeli and American pressure.
The judges dismissed the requests on Wednesday concerning the warrants that had been issued last November for Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip.
The orders were issued due to the duo's actions either leading to, prolonging or reinforcing the regime's October 2023-present war of genocide on Gaza that has so far claimed the lives of more than 58,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children.
Silencing justice: How Israel targets international law to escape accountability
As international outcry grows over Israeli actions against Palestinians, so does the regime's campaign to silence those calling for accountability. The latest target is UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese speaking out against Israel's Gaza conduct, which she says is genocide. Albanese has faced coordinated smear efforts and sanctions by Israel's main ally, the United States.
Yemen expands aerial and maritime military campaign against Israel
The Yemeni Armed Forces have announced a new dual drone operation targeting key Israeli positions. Officials say the operation marks a strategic move to support the Palestinian resistance and challenge global shipping to Israeli ports.
Israel's raids on Syria spark widespread condemnation, spotlight expansionist ambitions - Tehran Times
On Wednesday, Israel targeted key sites in Damascus - including the Syrian Ministry of Defense headquarters and areas near the presidential palace - under the stated justification of protecting Syria's Druze minority. Israel views this minority, which has clashed with Syrian HTS forces in the Druze heartland of Suwayda, as a potential ally. However, the Druze community itself has historically rejected Israeli intervention.
The backlash against Israel's aggression has been swift and united. The Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), representing six Persian Gulf states, condemned the strikes in the "strongest terms." GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi branded the air campaign a "flagrant violation" of Syrian sovereignty, a breach of international law, and a severe threat to regional security and stability. He called for urgent international intervention to halt these "irresponsible escalations" and hold the perpetrators accountable, urging protection of Syria's sovereignty in line with the United Nations Charter.
Israel STRIKES Syria In Support of HTS Gov't, NOT Against It -Laith Marouf
Secretary of State Marco Rubio claimed there must be a "misunderstanding" after Israel launched strikes in Damascus on Wednesday, hitting both the Syrian Defense Ministry and near the presidential palace. Israel claimed to be assisting the Druze religious minorities in southern Syria, who have been engaging clashes with the Al-Qaeda/HTS government.
Palestinian-Syrian Journalist Laith Marouf noted that while it may look like Israel's attacks were meant to harm Abu Mohammed al-Julani and his death squads in power, Israel was actually helping them by carrying out strikes meant to prevent any kind of a unified government of the people from taking shape in Damascus.
Several states vow to take six 'concrete' steps against Israel at Bogota summit | Middle East Eye
A coalition of states from around the world gathering in Bogota on Wednesday agreed to implement six measures to stop Israel's onslaught on Gaza and prevent violations of international law.
The announcement came as part of an "emergency summit" in the Colombian capital, co-hosted by the governments of Colombia and South Africa as co-chairs of The Hague Group, to coordinate diplomatic and legal action to counter what they describe as "a climate of impunity" enabled by Israel and its powerful allies.

Yemen Launches Drone Strikes on Israeli Military Sites in Occupied Negev, Eilat - World news - Tasnim News Agency
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The Yemeni Armed Forces announced they carried out coordinated drone attacks on key Israeli positions in occupied Palestine, declaring the operations a response to Israel's ongoing atrocities against Gaza.
Yahya Saree, spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, issued a statement detailing the fresh strikes targeting the Zionist regime.
According to Saree, three drones were deployed simultaneously against two sites in occupied territory.
Two drones struck a significant Israeli military installation in the Negev region.
A third drone hit the port of Umm al-Rashrash, known by the Zionists as Eilat.
Israeli media outlets reported the drone assault earlier on Tuesday.
Predictably, the Israeli military claimed it intercepted the drone launched from Yemen.
Saree said that the operations succeeded and achieved their intended objectives.
Yemen's naval blockade forces closure of Israel's only Red Sea port
Israel says its only Red Sea port in Eilat will shut down next week, as a deepening debt crisis-triggered by a months-long naval blockade by Yemen's Ansarullah movement-brings the strategic facility to a standstill.
Inside the Merkava 4 - Israel's most advanced tank destroyed by Hamas fighters
In a "security incident" in Jabalia, a city in northern Gaza, on Sunday, the Israeli regime lost another Merkava 4 tank with three crew members, a much-hyped military vehicle that has been experiencing heavy losses for the past two years in the besieged Palestinian territory.

Israel scrambles to address maritime insurance freeze after Houthi attacks, sources say | Middle East Eye
In early July, Yemen's Houthis launched a sophisticated and multi-pronged attack on The Magic Seas and The Eternity C, two Greek-owned and Liberian-flagged vessels in the Red Sea.
Both vessels were sunk by the group, officially known as Ansar Allah.
The attacks were the largest in scope, and firepower, since the Houthis began targeting ships in the Red Sea in November 2023 in what they say is solidarity with besieged Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
"There is a big discussion in the market right now whether insurers should cover vessels with even indirect connections to Israel," one of the shipping sources told MEE.
Salah al-Din Brigades, Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades Shell Zionist Soldiers, Vehicles in Southern Gaza - SabaNet
The Al-Nasser Salah al-Din Brigades, the military wing of the Popular Resistance Committees in Palestine, announced on Wednesday that they, in coordination with the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades-the military wing of the Fatah movement-shelled Zionist enemy soldiers and vehicles east of Al-Qarara in southern Gaza.

This operation comes as part of the ongoing response by Palestinian resistance factions to the genocidal war waged by the Zionist enemy-backed by the United States-against the people of Gaza since October 7, 2023. The aggression includes mass killings, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, in defiance of international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt it.
Members Of UN Commission Investigating Israel ResignSouth Front
Pillar, who headed the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights from 2008 to 2014, is well-known for being a critic of Israel, while Kothari caused a firestorm of controversy in 2022 when he said that social media was "controlled largely by the Jewish lobby."
The surprise resignations may have been motivated by a fear from the United States, which recently demonstrated its willingness to use sanctions to fight any criticism of Israel from the UN or the International Criminal Court.
Earlier this month, the United States imposed sanctions against UN rapporteur for Palestinian rights Francesca Albanese, who is also a known critic of Israel.
The U.S. also slapped sanctions on ICC chief prosecutor Karim Khan in February over his decision to file arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former defense minister Yoav Gallant. While the court is not under the mandate of the UN, it works closely with the organization.
The sanctions against Khan were especially harsh. His U.S.-based assets were frozen and he was barred from entering the country. In addition, he was denied access to his email, and his bank accounts were frozen. According to the Associated Press, his American staffers were also told they were at risk of arrest if they were to enter the U.S.
Netanyahu thanked U.S. President Donald Trump for imposing sanctions on Khan at the time in a statement released by his office.
US Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Tries to Stop Washington's Enabling of Israeli Aggression |
US Rep. Greene has introduced legislation to remove military aid for Israel from the US budget.
Marjorie Greene has done several things that members of the US House and Senate are trained not to do. She acknowledged Israel's possession of nuclear weapons. Members of the US government are not supposed to acknowledge Israel's nuclear weapons, because the Symington Amendment forbids aid to governments that enrich weapons grade uranium and produce nuclear weapons outside of International Atomic Energy Agency controls. The Israeli controlled US government avoids the Symington law by refusing to acknowledge the fact that Israel has acquired, with Washington's assistance, nuclear weapons totally outside the IAEA controls

Ten children a day losing a limb in Gaza, warns UN-backed body | Middle East Eye
Ten children a day are losing one or both limbs in Gaza due to Israel's assault on the Palestinian enclave, a report warned on Tuesday.
According to an update by the UN-sponsored Global Protection Cluster, Israeli attacks on Gaza have "destroyed the protection environment" of the disabled and newly disabled in the enclave.

Twenty-five percent are estimated to have new disabilities requiring acute and ongoing rehabilitation.
"There is no safe space in Gaza. Twenty months of intense hostilities have destroyed the protection environment for persons with disabilities and older persons," it said.

Chaos reported at Israel-Syria border amid Israeli attacks on Sweida | Middle East Eye
Chaotic scenes at the Israel-Syria border are being reported as people are attempting to cross the fence in both directions amid Israeli attacks on the Druze-majority city of Sweida in southern Syria.
The Syrian government deployed its forces in the area after several days of armed clashes between Druze factions and Bedouin tribes.
Israel, which said it was acting to protect the Druze community in Syria, launched two waves of strikes on Sweida on Wednesday following the collapse of a ceasefire between Druze armed groups and government forces.
The army said it had struck Syrian military targets, including rocket launchers, weapons and pickup trucks, adding that "routes were struck in order to block access to the area".
But according to Syrian state media, Israeli drones targeting the area caused civilian casualties.

Netanyahu was indicted in 2019 in three cases involving gifts from millionaire friends and for allegedly seeking regulatory favours for media tycoons in return for favourable coverage.
US report details how Iranian missiles cracked Israeli defense systems
Iran managed to penetrate Israel's boasted air defense systems during the 12-day war by changing missile launch tactics and identifying "gaps" in Israeli defense through "trial and error", The Wall Street Journal reports.
The paper details how Iran has incrementally improved its missile strategies against Israel by analyzing failures and adapting. Using drones, decoys, and hypersonic missiles in coordinated waves, Iran exploited Israel's multi-tiered air defense and exposed its vulnerabilities, particularly under saturation conditions.

Why Trump is Desperately Trying to Bury the Epstein Issue - Video #234
Trump is becoming increasingly desperate in his attempts to bury the Epstein saga, writing posts begging people to look the other way, calling the Epstein story boring and belittling reporters who dare to ask questions about it. Trump is intimately tied to Epstein; they go way back, including Trump being on Robert Maxwell's yacht and Trump & Epstein raping girls together.
Before President Trump wished Ghislaine Maxwell 'well,' they had mingled for years in the same gilded circles - The Washington Post
For at least 15 years after the yacht party, Ghislaine Maxwell and Trump continued to mingle in the same gilded circles, attending the same parties in Florida and New York, sharing meals and flying together at least once on Epstein's private plane, according to documents, interviews and media accounts. They were captured together in photographs and videos several times in that period, and Maxwell got to know two of Trump's wives.
As Trump threatens BRICS, dollar's days look numbered
As the 17th BRICS Summit wrapped up in Rio de Janeiro last week, global attention was drawn not only to the bloc's growing influence but also to the increasingly confrontational tone from Washington.
President Donald Trump's threat to impose a 10 percent tariff on any country aligning with what he described as "anti-American" BRICS policies highlights the deep anxiety within the US establishment over the declining role of the dollar in global trade.
Rather than projecting strength, this reaction reveals mounting concern that the United States is losing its firm hold on the financial tools that have sustained its global dominance for decades.
Central to this unease is the ongoing process of "de-dollarization," which is largely driven by the expanding BRICS coalition.
China's rise is exposing the cost of America's alliance with Israel | Middle East Eye
As American global dominance frays after three decades of unipolarity, China's steady rise as an economic, military and diplomatic soft power signals a tectonic shift in the global order.
At the same time, the US continues to entangle itself in regional struggles - particularly in the Middle East - that no longer yield strategic dividends but instead deepen perceptions of decline.
Nowhere is this clearer than in America's unwavering support for Israel, especially after the 7 October attack, which has begun to reshape global perceptions of the legitimacy of both US power and the Zionist enterprise.

The Experiment of Representative Democracy Has Failed...What's Next? - OffGuardian
Meanwhile, every day we hear more about lawlessness within our governments: controlled or stolen elections, illegal acts of war, violations of civil liberties, and outright mass murder. The message is: "You are powerless. You are useless."
In recent days, they've ceased pretending that they intend to rule by any other means but by military technofascism.
Remember Deborah Birx, everybody's beautifully silk-scarfed Auntie Deb who stood beside Fauci and told us to submit to a lockdown for "two weeks to flatten the curve"? She's a former Army Colonel and she has now taken a seat on the board of PaIantir. Big Tech has always been connected with the military; the third-party contractor cover story was just there to get around the constitutional protections of civil liberties.
As the Grayzone reports, four Tech Bros, from OpenAI, Palantir, and Meta have joined the military as Lieutenant Colonels, by-passing the usual procedures for attaining such rank.
The Overton window may have slammed shut by the time I post this. Full scale censorship, economic control, and robo-cop policing are poised to begin. PaIantir founders, Peter ThieI and AIex Karp have not been shy about expressing their contempt for humanity.
