Iran slams door on US delegation; Trump blew-up Vance's Iran deal, asks for nuclear codes, extends ceasefire; Opposition to Israel grows; Energy lock-downs hit EU - IRAN WAR NEWS - 21-Apr-2026 (update 2)

US "ACHIEVEMENTS" IN IRAN WAR:
- Strait of Hormuz open: FAIL (Iran--not the US--briefly opened the strait, then closed it again on 18-Apr. due to US violation of ceasefire)
- US blockade of Strait of Hormuz: PARTIAL SUCCESS, if you want to call it that (US Navy cannot approach Iran coast without having more holes installed in their boats)
- elimination of nuclear enrichment program: FAIL
- elimination of nuclear weapon program: INAPPLICABLE (Iran is not seeking nuclear weapons, or at least they weren't until the US-Israel attack)
- highly enriched uranium seized/transferred: FAIL
- ballistic missile program eliminated: FAIL
- navy eliminated: PARTIAL SUCCESS (best yet to come if US continues to FAFO)
- air force eliminated: PARTIAL SUCCESS (destruction largely irrelevant)
- regime change: PARTIAL SUCCESS, if you want to call it that (new ayatollah is less US-friendly than pop was)
- US involved in selection of new ayatollah: FAIL
- US regional bases fully operational: FAIL
- US presence in Gulf states: COMPROMISED
- threat to Israel eliminated: FAIL
12bytes: I just wanted to highlight, in a visual way, the 'confidence' of the US Navy in engaging Iran and Yemen. What do you notice in this image showing the locations of the 3 carrier strike groups (CSG) operating in the region as of 21-Apr-2026?

There's two revealing take-a-ways in the locations of the CSG's and the route chosen by CVN 77: The Abraham Lincoln (CVN 77), sailed around S. Africa instead of taking the much shorter route through the Red Sea and it did so in order to avoid attacks from Yemen's Houthi's who twice kicked the US Navy out of the Red Sea during the 12 day war. Secondly, all 3 CSG's are staying well away from the Iranian coast, where they would be much more effective, for the simple reason that they cannot approach Iran without having a bunch on new holes installed in their ships. What does this suggest about the 'greatest' and 'most advanced' navy in the world (that doesn't have working toilets or a reliable aircraft elevator or catapult in the Ford's case)?
UPDATE 2
Was Donald Trump 'blocked' from using the nuclear codes against Iran? • FRANCE 24 English - YouTube
Former CIA analyst Larry Johnson alleged on a podcast this week that President Donald Trump wanted to use the nuclear codes against Iran during a White House meeting, but that he was stopped by General Dan Caine, Chairman of his Joint Chiefs of Staff. He described the reaction as "quite the blow up." This comes as concern mounts over the US President's unpredictable behaviour, as many lawmakers voice doubt about his mental state. Vedika Bahl goes delves into the facts in Truth or Fake.
Is Trump Going for Armageddon?
On the military front, Iran has reacted to the seizure of its cargo ship in the Gulf of Oman by deploying thousands of new anti-ship mines in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran was not making idle threats about closing the Strait of Hormuz. It is day 53 since the start of the Ramadan war on the 28th of February and Iran is showing no signs of wavering in its demand that the US fulfill its initial acceptance of Iran's 10-point plan.
Today, Tuesday, marks the final day of the ceasefire that Israel, the US and Iran accepted on 7 April. Both the US and Iran are locked-and-loaded to continue the fight. The US lacks the military resources that are required to open the Strait of Hormuz. It is not just a matter of clearing the mines and seizing territory on the coast... The US would need an enormous ground force to drive inland in order to locate and destroy missile and drone launch sites.

A recent Wall Street Journal article - Behind Trump's Public Bravado on the War, He Grapples With His Own Fears - reports that Trump's spate of bizarre, vulgar, threatening posts on social media, e.g., threatening to end Iran as a civilization (implying the use of nuclear weapons), is simply a negotiating ploy - i.e., convince the Iranians that he is unstable and could do anything in order to convince Iran to make concessions. If that is genuinely Trump's intention, it has backfired spectacularly. It has raised legitimate questions about his mental competence.
Although Trump reportedly is terrified of getting bogged down in another forever war that he once vowed he would never do, I think he will order a new round of attacks in hopes that he will break Iran's will to resist. That will only compound his problems because Iran will retaliate and inflict catastrophic damage on the Gulf Arabs who continue to side with the US.

My mention of a report that during an emergency meeting on Saturday with his National Security team, President Trump was rebuffed by General Caine when Trump raised the possibility of using a nuke. I have no confirmation that the report is verified, but my comment went viral:
IRAN DIVIDED? IRGC REFUSES TALKS, HOLDS FIRM | Mark Sleboda
Reports say Iran is refusing to send a delegation to Islamabad unless the U.S. agrees to lift its blockade on Iranian ports. This, as the Trump Admin is pushing for a second meeting ahead of the deadline for the current two-week ceasefire on Wednesday night.
International Relations and Security Analyst Mark Sleboda noted that while there are reports of an "internal rift" in Iran amid FM Abbas Araghchi's statements on social media, the IRGC is holding firm and refusing to allow the U.S. to dictate the rules for the Strait of Hormuz.

CEASEFIRE CLOCK TICKS... IRAN READY FOR WAR | Kevork Almassian
The U.S. and Iran are getting close to the official end of their two-week ceasefire, as Tehran pushes back against Washington's request to meet in Islamabad for a second round of talks, noting that Iran will NOT be forced into negotiations.
But this hasn't been a true "ceasefire," as the U.S. seized an Iranian cargo ship over the weekend as part of its blockade on Iran's blockade, AND Israel continues its deadly attacks on Lebanon.
Kevork Almassian, Host of Syriana Analysis, noted that Israel's plan to expand its occupation of Lebanon and to take over Lebanese gas fields is no coincidence... it wants to become a regional hegemon, and has been working towards that goal as part of the 'Greater Israel' project.
But the Axis of Resistance is not backing down, threatening new "surprises" if the ceasefire ends and the war officially resumes... and the entire global economy will feel the impact.
Trump extends ceasefire, orders military to maintain Iran blockade | Middle East Eye
In a post on Truth Social, US President Donald Trump said: "Based on the fact that the Government of Iran is seriously fractured, not unexpectedly so and, upon the request of Field Marshal Asim Munir, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, of Pakistan, we have been asked to hold our Attack on the Country of Iran until such time as their leaders and representatives can come up with a unified proposal.
"I have therefore directed our Military to continue the Blockade and, in all other respects, remain ready and able, and will therefore extend the Ceasefire until such time as their proposal is submitted, and discussions are concluded, one way or the other."
12bytes: This doesn't sound like Trump, not at all. Maybe somebody locked fat-ass in the broom closet for the duration of the war? Secondly, there are no ongoing discussions according to a plethora of announcements from Iran which would explain why the US is allegedly extending the ceasefire. This smells more like an attempt to exit the war by first begging Iran to come to the table so an agreement can be made, perhaps the same agreement that Vance apparently offered which Trump torpedoed according to Larry Johnson. Meanwhile, the Three Stooges (Vance, Witkoff, Kushner) are apparently sitting in an empty room with no one to talk to but each other and i think that's pretty funny. It will be funnier still if the Iranians never show up.
Iran aide says Trump ceasefire extension 'ploy' for surprise strike | Middle East Eye
An adviser to Iran's parliament speaker said Donald Trump's extension of the ceasefire "means nothing".
Mahdi Mohammadi said the continued blockade is equivalent to ongoing attacks and should be met with a military response.
He added that the ceasefire extension is "a ploy to buy time for a surprise strike", saying Iran should now take the initiative.

Hezbollah Announces First Attack Against Israel Amid Ceasefire
Hezbollah on April 21 announced that it had carried out an attack against the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) in response to ceasefire violations in the first such development.
In a statement, the group said that it targeted an artillery position in the northern Israeli settlement of Kfar Giladi with a rocket barrage and suicide drones.
Hezbollah claimed to have documented over 200 Israeli violations of the United States-brokered ten-day ceasefire since it took effect on April 17. It noted that the attack against the IDF was carried out in response to those violations, which included the destruction of civilian properties, and within its "right to resist occupation and repel it."
The group mentioned recent Israeli artillery strikes on the town of Yahmar al-Shaqif in southern Lebanon. white phosphorus shells were reportedly used.

Iran Copied Israel's Spike Firefly Loitering Munitions (Video)
Iran appears to have copied the L-Spike 1x loitering munition, formerly known as the Spike Firefly, made by Israel's Rafael Advanced Defense Systems.
The Iranian copy of the firefly appeared in a military parade that was organized by women in the capital, Tehran, on April 17 as a part of the "Sacrifice for the Homeland" campaign - an initiative meant to protest the American-Israeli war on the Islamic Republic.
Of wars, disruptions and markets - by Alex Krainer
Unfortunately, the standoff between the U.S. and Iran is not the only factor that is now causing large scale disruption to the world energy production.
Over the recent months we've witnessed a series of targeted attacks on energy infrastructure in other parts of the world, coupled with multiple industrial accidents that have become so frequent, it's become difficult to keep track of them. In just the last five days, there have been six unrelated incidents:
- 15 Apr: Viva Energy Geelong Refinery fire (Australia)
- 16 Apr: deadly gas pipeline explosion in Haripur, Pakistan (8 killed)
- 18 Apr: Ukrainian drone attack on a Rosneft oil refinery and Tuapse oil depot and export facility in Krasnodar, Russia - probably the largest such attack to date.
- 20 Apr: Massive blaze at one of India's biggest petrochemical refineries (HPCL Rajasthan) - a day before PM Modi was meant to inaugurate the facility
- 20 Apr: Explosion + fire at CET Vest power plant, Bucharest (Romania)
This morning we also learned about a "massive" explosion of an oil rig registered near Etoile, Texas (U.S. Department of Homeland Security already attributed the attack to Iranian sleeper cells). Of course, most of these incidents could be coincidences, but they're only a small set of what's been happening for months now. The following list will prove a greater challenge for coincidence theorists:

Michigan Dems Came Down Hard On Student Protests Against the Gaza Genocide. It Just Blew Up in Their Face.
For two years, establishment Democrats have led a wide-ranging legal attack on University of Michigan pro-Palestinian student activists, aiming to shut down their protest of Israel. On Sunday, Democratic Party delegates symbolically rebuked the establishment's draconian campaign. Two pro-Palestinian candidates notched upset wins against pro-Israel-backed opponents in statewide primary races in this critical upper Midwest swing state.
The races, decided by the Michigan Democratic Party's delegates during a nominating convention, mark material and symbolic victories for pro-Palestinian activists at the University of Michigan (U-M)-some of whom continue to face investigations over their protests of the genocide. And, as more polling shows the extent to which support for Israel has collapsed across the political spectrum, the wins indicate that the pro-Israel playbook is failing even in lower, state-level races.

UAE Plans to De-dollarize Oil Market - Global Research
De-dollarization has already been a reality for years among sanctioned countries such as Russia, China, and Iran. These states have suffered constant pressure due to rivalry with the Collective West, which is why they have naturally sought alternative systems for their international transactions, frequently using their national currencies.
However, this trend has apparently even reached some of the West's allies. In a recent statement, authorities from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) warned their American counterparts that might have to start trading in Chinese yuan in the global oil market. The news was seen as an "implicit threat" by the American government, which believes that Abu Dhabi is trying to break its historical ties with Washington in favor of closer relations with China.

In 2025, Alex Karp, the CEO of government and military tech contractor Palantir, published The New York Times best-seller, The Technological Republic: Hard Power, Soft Belief, and the Future of the West. The Wall Street Journal praised the book as a cri de coeur, a passionate appeal "that takes aim at the tech industry for abandoning its history of helping America and its allies," while Wired praised the book as a "readable polemic that skewers Silicon Valley for insufficient patriotism."
On April 18, 2026, Palantir posted 22 points to social media summarizing the book. In addition to taking Silicon Valley to task for insufficient patriotism, advocating a role for AI in forever war, and denouncing the "psychologization of modern politics," the Palantir post on X declares:

Rare Survivors of Pacific Boat Strikes Allege U.S. Forces Kidnapped and Tortured Them
QUITO, Ecuador-The last time Roxanna Mero heard from her husband Carlos was January 19. Calling from sea on an emergency line, he said an "American aircraft, two drones, and a blue patrol ship" had been circling La Fiorella, the Ecuadorian fishing boat he captained. The presence of an airplane worried him, given that Trump's extrajudicial airstrikes across the Pacific and Caribbean have killed more than 170 people in 6 months, but a local coast guard had already inspected the vessel, found nothing and cleared them to continue.
The next day, the boat went up in smoke. The eight fishermen aboard have not been seen since.
Three independent accounts from relatives of the missing crew assert that eyewitnesses, on a nearby raft at the time of the incident, saw La Fiorella engulfed in flames. "They've been threatened not to speak to the press. They're scared for their lives," said Angelica Lourdes Mero, whose son and spouse are among the disappeared men.

Pakistan races against time to get Iran back to US talks as truce end nears | US-Israel war on Iran News | Al Jazeera
Islamabad, Pakistan - As United States Vice President JD Vance prepares to fly to Islamabad, Pakistan is racing against time and the odds to try to convince Tehran to join talks with the US aimed at ending their war, now in its eighth week.
But while Pakistani officials close to the mediation efforts remain cautiously hopeful that Iran might send a negotiating team for the talks by Wednesday, a series of escalatory steps taken by the US over the past 48 hours had by Tuesday evening injected a dose of scepticism into Islamabad's peacemaking efforts.
No Iranian delegation in Islamabad, says report as Tehran rejects talks under threats
No Iranian delegation has arrived in Islamabad for talks with the United States, says a report, as senior Iranian officials declared they will not engage in talks "under the shadow of threats" following renewed American aggression at sea.
Contrary to numerous international and regional media reports suggesting an Iranian delegation was set to arrive for talks, IRIB News Agency reported on Tuesday that "to date, no delegation from Iran has gone to Islamabad, Pakistan; neither a main nor a subsidiary delegation; neither primary nor secondary."

This firm stance follows blatant breaches of a two-week-old ceasefire by Washington. Iranian officials have maintained a consistent position since Sunday evening, asserting that the "continuation of talks depends on a change in American behavior and positions."
What was the Iran nuclear deal Trump dumped in search of 'better' terms? | US-Israel war on Iran News | Al Jazeera
United States President Donald Trump has said a nuclear agreement currently being negotiated with Iran will be "far better" than the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which he withdrew from in 2018 during his first term in office.
The original 2015 accord took roughly two years of negotiations to reach and involved hundreds of specialists across technical and legal fields, including multiple US experts. Under it, Iran agreed to restrict the enrichment of uranium and to subject itself to inspections in exchange for the relaxation of sanctions.
Iran has new surprises ready for potential resumption of war: Report

According to the Center for Analysis of Strategies & Technologies senior research fellow, these may include:
- new long-range ballistic and cruise missiles
- new kamikaze drones
- new anti-ship weapons (missiles, torpedoes, mines). Up to this point, US warships have already had to maintain a respectable distance from Iran's shores to avoid being targeted
A Dying Empire Collides with a Rising Iran as the Gulf Learns to Live Without America - 21st Century Wire
Pakistan is scrambling to salvage a two-week ceasefire that expires tonight, while US warships and Iranian missiles stare each other down across the Strait of Hormuz. In Washington, Trump insists he is "in no rush" to extend the truce even as the War Powers deadline and a growing veteran‑led revolt close in on his Iran adventure. Tehran, for its part, has made one thing brutally clear in the face of ship seizures and threats of power‑plant strikes: there will be no negotiations under the shadow of a gun.
Iran is not bluffing. After fifty days of war and a fragile ceasefire balanced on today's deadline, it is Washington that is running out of time, out of options, and out of political cover, while Tehran quietly shapes the terms of whatever comes next.

U.S. FAILS TO CHOKE CHINA WITH IRAN WAR | KJ Noh
The U.S. war on Iran isn't just about targeting the Islamic Republic... it's also a desperate attempt to cut off the energy supply to China, ahead of Washington's fantasy of a "war on China" in the years to come.
But nothing that was written in the policy papers is going as planned for the U.S. Establishment, as China has spent the last several years building up its strategic oil reserves, improving its renewable energy technology, etc. As a result, Beijing isn't just exporting refined rare earth minerals, it's also exporting the overwhelming majority of the world's clean technology.
KJ Noh, an independent journalist specializing in the geopolitics of the Asia-Pacific region, noted that just like Iran, China has spent years preparing for the possibility of war with the U.S., and it is ready to weather any storm Washington may try to throw its way.
Why speculation about China arming Iran is way off base | Middle East Eye
In recent weeks, a familiar chorus has emerged from certain western media and intelligence circles: the claim that China is either supplying or preparing to supply weapons to Iran to aid its confrontation against the US and Israel.
The narrative is as dramatic as it is detached from reality. It fits a comfortable template: Beijing as the shadowy enabler, Tehran as the willing proxy, and the Middle East as the chessboard of great power rivalries.
But like many such templates, it collapses under its own weight. The accusation that China is arming Iran is not merely unproven; it is fundamentally incompatible with Beijing's declared policies, its consistent behaviour in global conflicts, and its strategic interests.

A history of Israel's invasions of Lebanon | Middle East Eye
Since 2 March, Israel has carried out a large-scale air campaign in Lebanon, killing more than 2,290 people, wounding over 7,500, and displacing 1.2 million people, around 20 percent of the population.
At the same time, the Israeli military has launched a ground invasion, announcing plans to occupy large swathes of southern Lebanon and stating that displaced residents would not be allowed to return to their homes.
Israeli forces have spent weeks demolishing entire villages, using bulldozers and rigging homes with explosives before flattening them in large-scale remote-controlled detonations.
Within hours of the ceasefire coming into effect, Israeli troops carried out demolitions, artillery shelling, and land-clearing operations in several border areas, in violation of the truce.

UN experts urge EU to suspend Israel trade agreement immediately - Middle East Monitor
UN experts on Monday called on the EU to immediately suspend its trade agreement with Israel, saying it is the "minimum measure required" under international law in light of alleged human rights violations, Anadolu Agency reported.
In a statement issued ahead of Tuesday's meeting of EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg, the experts said the EU-Israel Association Agreement should be fully suspended because Israel continues to receive preferential access to European markets despite "well-documented human rights violations that have escalated into atrocity crimes, including genocide."
"Europe faces a clear moral test, when its Foreign Ministers meet in Luxembourg tomorrow, 21st April, to consider the suspension, in full or in part of this Agreement," the experts said in a statement.
"The EU cannot credibly claim to uphold human rights while sustaining preferential trade with a State whose conduct has been found by multiple international bodies as amounting to genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes," they added.

High Court Showdown: Can India Prove Viruses Exist?
In early 2023, we highlighted growing international efforts questioning the scientific basis behind virus detection and the COVID-19 narrative. Now, in 2026, a major development has emerged out of India-where a petition brought before a High Court has formally demanded evidence for the existence of viruses and the foundations of germ theory itself.
This case names some of the most powerful medical authorities in the country and calls on them to provide real, demonstrable proof for claims that underpin modern public health policy. What followed is drawing widespread attention-and raising serious questions.
In this video, we break down what happened in court, the response (or lack of it), and why this legal challenge is significant. Whether you agree or disagree, this is a conversation that is now reaching millions and entering more mainstream spaces.
12bytes: The theory--theory, mind you--that pathogenic microbes ("viruses") exist is a subject i've studied in-depth. While the World Focuses on War... the Future of Your Money Is Being Decided - YouTube
Michelle Makori, President & Editor-in-Chief, Miles Franklin Media, breaks down the growing debate over central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) - and what a digital dollar could mean for your financial freedom. As lawmakers in Washington weigh whether to delay or block a CBDC, the implications go far beyond policy. A programmable, trackable digital currency could reshape how money works - from how you spend... to how much control you actually have over it.
Globally, more than 130 countries are already exploring CBDCs, with China's digital yuan leading the way. Supporters argue this is about efficiency, faster payments, and financial inclusion. Critics warn it could open the door to unprecedented financial surveillance and control. So what's really at stake?
In this episode of The Real Story with Michelle Makori:
- What a CBDC actually is and how it works
- Why the U.S. is debating a digital dollar now
- The global move toward digital currencies
- Risks of programmable money and financial control
- The case for CBDCs: speed, efficiency, and policy tools
- What this could mean for your money and your freedom
No Chance To Revive Next-Generation Fighter Jet As France And Germany Part Ways
It's quite clear that the European Union is a highly problematic entity. The troubled bloc has long been a laughing stock of the world as its lack of sovereignty became all the more apparent. This includes the EU's replacement of much more affordable Russian natural gas (supplied through pipelines) with the exorbitantly expensive shipborne American LNG (which also needs to be stored, creating additional logistical challenges and driving up costs). The results have been catastrophic for European economies, as their competitiveness has dropped dramatically. Worse yet, Brussels also seems to be preparing for a direct confrontation with Russia, as it keeps escalating tensions and antagonizing Moscow, including by increasing arms deliveries to the Kiev regime.
It's under these conditions of economic downturn, financial constraints and active militarization that the troubled bloc is seeking to develop a next-generation multirole fighter jet. The program, formally known as the Future Combat Air System (FCAS), has long been marred by delays, cost overruns and disunity as different nations seek to nudge it in the direction that's more in line with their strategic needs and military doctrine.
