Why i use AzireVPN
I've written about VPN's several times over the years and learned quite a bit in the process. In general, i find the VPN market to be extremely sketchy. It seems that the vast majority of service providers are not worth your trust and most of these companies are owned by a very small number of sketchy parent companies. I delve into the problem in my article, Navigating the VPN Hellscape, which i highly suggest reading if you're using, or planning on using a VPN.
As any geek will know, VPN's do not provide a trustless model. In other words, you have to trust, without any guarantees whatsoever, that the provider you choose seems trustworthy. While i can already hear the proponents of Tor screaming that Tor provides the trustless model that VPN's lack, Tor has its privacy and security issues as well and, frankly, i tend to trust Tor even less than my current VPN provider. That, combined with the other pitfalls inherent with Tor, including a significant bandwidth hit, added latency and the networks unfavorable environment for torrenting, causes me to stick with the VPN solution instead, at least for general internet use.
One of the huge problems with virtually all of the VPN providers out there is that they do not control the actual hardware; they don't physically own or secure their servers. Sadly, out of what must be at least a hundred companies out there, there are only 2 that i'm aware of that seem to be trustworthy which actually own and secure their servers, they being AzireVPN, which owns and secures all their servers, and Mullvad, which owns only a very small number of their servers, all in Sweden as i recall. For general, everyday internet use, i have no major problem with Mullvad, but i prefer Azire.
Azire's co-founders, Tobias Windh and William Oling, were recently interviewed by Shauli Zacks of SafetyDetectives and the interview is worth a read. The article also includes a link to one of Azire's server processing videos which provides several of the reasons why i prefer Azire over any other company.
