Minneapolis Border Patrol shooting (1/24/26): Pretti disarmed before being shot
Alex Jeffrey Pretti died on the street in Minneapolis on 24-Jan-2026 after being shot multiple times by a U.S. Border Patrol agent. Pretti was attending a protest regarding the ongoing arrests of illegal aliens by ICE. When a woman was shoved to the ground by one of the agents, Pretti attempted to help her and was attacked and pepper sprayed by the agents. He was then wrestled to the ground, beaten and shot.
Pretti was carrying a concealed weapon, for which he apparently had a permit, in an inside-the-waistband (IWB) holster, however he was disarmed before being shot multiple times.
The source for the screen-caps was the following video:
On January 24, 2026, at 09:05 CST, Alex Pretti was shot multiple times by Border Patrol agents at the intersection of 26th Street and Nicollet Avenue in Minneapolis. A witness stated that ICE agents were attempting to enter into a restaurant but were refused. Videos of the incident showed Pretti recording multiple agents. He then moved to the sidewalk and tried to help out two other protesters but was pepper-sprayed by an agent. The Associated Press detailed that an agent shoved a man before the two embraced and fell back.
Several agents wrestled Pretti onto the sidewalk, one officer struck him with an object, and then ten shots were fired within five seconds.
Shortly after, some agents began performing chest compressions. Pretti was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Official Story Collapsing: New Minnesota Shooting Video Evidence Emerges | Redacted News
John Bryan, the Civil Rights Lawyer, joins redacted to discuss the legality of the Minnesota shooting victim Alex Pretti having a fire arm at an ICE protest.
Larry Johnson, former CIA analyst, expressed his disgust regarding the execution of Pretti:
US Border Patrol is Out of Control
If Pretti had pulled the gun and tried to fire a shot then the Border Patrol officers would have been fully justified in shooting him. But that is not what happened! As Pretti was wrestled to the ground by five officers - Pretti was resisting, but he did not draw his gun. You can see in the following video that the Sig Sauer, which he was carrying in an inside-the-waistband holster on his backside, was removed by one of the Border Patrol officers. That officer apparently hollered, "Gun," which then caused at least one of the other officers to draw his semi-automatic pistol and to start firing at Pretti in the mistaken belief that he was suppressing an imminent threat. At no time did Pretti draw the gun and threaten to shoot the officers.
Even if Pretti was being directed by outside forces to protest ICE operations, he did not forfeit his Constitutional rights. He did not strike the ICE/Border Patrol officer. Instead, he stepped between the officer who was assaulting a woman who had done nothing to provoke the attack. At no point was he asked to produce ID. Most importantly, he had a valid concealed carry license. If you're carrying concealed you don't have to tell the police a damn thing unless you are detained for a reasonable suspicion that you have committed a crime. You may not like the fact that Pretti was protesting ICE, but as a US citizen he has a Constitutional right to do so and had not broken any laws.
At no time did he reach for his pistol... The pistol was violently taken from him by one of the ICE/Border Patrol officers and, according to some reports, that officer caused a negligent discharge. What should scare the living hell out of every American citizen is that the head of the Department of Justice (Bondi) and the Director of the FBI (Patel) have gone on the record insisting he had no First or Second amendment rights... That he deserved what he got.
